Belize leave entitlements.
A practical reference for annual leave, paid sick leave, and maternity leave under the Belize Labour Act.
Annual leave
At least two working weeks after each qualifying year of employment. Employer gives at least seven days’ notice of the annual-holiday start date. A public holiday, Sunday, or agreed rest day during annual leave extends the leave by one day.
Paid sick leave
At least 60 days with the same employer in the preceding 12 months. Up to 16 working days with pay in any 12 months. If the employer requests it in writing, a medical certificate must be produced within 48 hours.
Maternity leave
14 weeks on full pay after at least 150 days with the same employer in the preceding 12 months. Where the 150-day threshold is not met, maternity leave is granted without pay.
